RACINES PRESENTS

LES TABLES DES VIGNERONS 2024

III ÉDITION

Monteraponi X Racines

On May 31, Racines will host Alessandra and Michele from Monteraponi for a memorable event. Experience the Chianti Classico from Radda in Chianti and Tuscan cuisine that will transport you to Italian excellence.

In the heart of historical Chianti, Monteraponi, an ancient medieval hamlet situated on the hill of the same name, was once owned by Count Ugo, Marquis and governor of Tuscany at the end of the 10th century. He donated it to the abbey he founded in Poggio Martori (Poggibonsi Alto). The central structure, which has remained almost intact, features a square-based tower.

On the battlements of the tower, the archivolts and typical windows from the 12th century are still visible and well-preserved. This building, due to its central and elevated position within the village, was likely the lord's residence. The same period saw the creation of cellars beneath the tower, topped by a broad single-arched ceiling where the winery’s bottles are aged.

The farm spans 200 hectares in a natural amphitheater facing south and sheltered from northern winds. The vineyards cover 12 hectares, olive groves 8 hectares, and the remaining land consists of centuries-old oak and chestnut forests that surround and protect the farm.
